Federal Skilled Trades Program – Express Entry / Professional Program / Other Programs

This program is meant for individuals who wish to become permanent residents based on their qualifications in a given skilled trade.

The application process and processing of these applications are conducted through the Express Entry system.  According to the CIC, to be eligible to apply under this program, a candidate must:Programa Federal (EE) Oficios Calificados

 

  • Have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the previous five years before applying.
  • Meet certain required levels in the languages (English and/or French).
  • Meet the job requirements for that specific skilled trade as set out in the National Occupational Classification, except for needing a certificate of qualification.
  • Have a full-time job offer of at least one year or a qualification’s certificate in that specific skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial / territorial authority.
  • Besides this, the candidate must plan to live outside the province of Quebec, as the province of Quebec selects its own skilled workers.

 

Provincial Nominees Program

This program is destined to candidates that count with the skills, studies and professional experience that align with the needs of a specific province. For this program, the province which may be interested in a candidate’s profile Will support his/her application for permanent residence. The program’s requirements vary according to each province, among which: field of work, current employment within the province, languages, etc.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program

This program is destined to skilled workers who count with a valid job offer in the provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Within this program, the job offer is meant to fulfill a specific position for which the employer has not found a local candidate. If the employer and the candidate fulfill the requisites, the federal government will grant the permanent residence to the candidate.
